Club,

There are many changes to the Wed and Thur Fall/Winter "Tioga" Rides, now that dark is upon us and the MS150 draws nigh.  These changes accommodated the largest amount of people, so we will miss those of you who can't make it.  Please note the changes, main one being new riders will be vetted a little more closely since we are time-crunched.  Other changes are to times of departure.

Many thanks to my buddy David Bello for taking up leadership on Wednesday.

James T
Developer Ride Captain

Wednesday--Advanced Developers Ride (Bike Works Parking Lot, Tioga Town Center: David Bello, Ride Leader)

5:00 p.m. meet, 5:10 p.m. leave, for ride until dark--25-30 miles (leave time will change during winter).  19-20 mph average speed.  “No drop” for punctures, mechanicals, and traffic lights, but we will not wait up for riders who cannot maintain the ride pace.  This is a performance-oriented training ride that may include rotating pacelines, time trials, intervals, and sprint lead-outs--after which we regroup for a steady ride.  Junior (under age 17) riders are encouraged.  Parents should speak with the Ride Captain to indicate who will be their guardian on the ride.  Drop-bar road bikes only except by Captain’s approval.

By showing up to the ride, you agree to abide by all of the rules concerning pace, regrouping, and “no drop.”  If you need to ride in ahead of a flat or pull off for some reason, let the Ride Captain know.

Thursday--Developers/Advanced Developers (Bike Works Parking Lot, James Thompson--Ride Leader)

8:00 a.m. meet, 8:10 a.m. leave, for ride until 9:30 a.m. (about 27 miles).  Coffee and conversation to follow.  18-19 mph average speed.  When new riders are present, this ride will teach new and fit riders the etiquette, safety protocols, and social culture of paceline riding.  “No drop” if new riders are present, otherwise we ride as Advanced Developers (see above).  While this is “no drop,” riders are expected to be able to clip in fast after stops, and regroup quickly after corners so we make it in before dark.  Riders should do a solo one hour ride and determine that they can ride 18 m.p.h by themselves.

By showing up to the ride, you agree to abide by all of the rules concerning pace, regrouping, and “no drop.”  If you need to ride in ahead of a flat or pull off for some reason, let the Ride Captain know.
