The Hokey Pokey ride group will ride Cross Creek Road and Angle Road,
for a total trip of 22 miles. Riders should meet at Rochelle
at 9:00 a.m. for an 9:15 ride start.
This ride will be on roads that have automobile traffic, but these are
quiet roads, especially on Saturday morning.
The ride will start in Rochelle, and go east on the Gainesville
Hawthorne Trail. We will turn right (south) onto Country Road
325, and then right on CR 346, stopping at the River Styx. Last time
we stopped at the River Styx, we were entertained by 7 or 8 baby
alligators. We will continue on CR 346 to US 441 (Micanopy) and then
turn right (north) on CR 234 (Angle Road) where we will stop to visit Oak
Ridge Cemetary and Governor Madison Starke Perry, and then back to
Rochelle
Everyone is welcome to come on this ride (of course, you must
wear a bike helmet). Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower
than me and we never leave anyone behind.
The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the
back of the group to make sure no one gets lost. The ride leader is
also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other
mechanical problems.
