Rob suggested that I post directions to the Hawthorne Trail Head of the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail for the benefit of those who have never been there before and who may be considering joining the Strays on tomorrow's ride.

From Gainesville, find your way to Hawthorne Road (SR 20) heading East out of town.

As you approach Hawthorne, SR 20 will turn into a construction zone.

Follow the signs to U.S. 301 South.

If you can, just before you get to 301, turn right on Johnson St. (the post office is on the corner). Take Johnson several blocks through downtown to SE 71st Ave, turn right. The trailhead is a couple of blocks down on the left.

Or from 301 heading south (a right turn off the SR 20 "ramp"), turn right on SE 69th Ave (CR 2082), cross the railroad tracks, turn left on Johnson St., then turn right on SE 71st. Ave. The trailhead is a couple of blocks down on the left.
