Chandler can always use help and he definitely needs adult
supervision. We needed a hot dog tender and help
setting up the paper goods and covered dishes.
Fanning Springs has excellent swimming and The Nature Coast Trail, a
37 mile long paved bike trail is next door. This bike trail is
perfect for families (no cars on the trail) or casual riders.
The highlight of the trail is the railroad bridge over the Suwannee
River.
Fanning Springs State Park is west of Gainesville on the Suwannee
River. Take University Avenue (State Road 26) west to Newberry, then
to Trenton. Continue on SR 26 to Fanning Springs where you will turn
right (west) onto US 19. The Park will be 1/4 mile down the road on
the left.
New Park Fees: Entry fees for State Parks have gone
up. One person in a car is $4, up to eight people in a car is $6,
bicyclists and pedestrians are $2.
