Thanks to those cyclists who have participated in the public meetings about SpringHills, the massive development proposed near 39th Ave and I-75, with a cut-through road to Millhopper Road. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1 at 5:00 P.M. at the Santa Fe Community College Northwest Campus Gym. County commissioners will hear testimony about the project, and possibly vote on whether to amend the Comprehensive Plan, which will allow or prevent the development from moving forward. Because this meeting could be decisive, your presence is important, so please plan to attend.

The Pennsylvania developer has sent a last-minute offer. Although it includes some additional funds for roads, when reimbursement requests and impact fee waivers are considered, taxpayers would still need to fund approximately $62 million for roads alone. Also, the developer is offering no funds for fire and rescue, schools, or water monitoring.
