The Hokey Pokies will ride the eastern half of the Gainesville
Hawthorne Trail on Saturday, June 4. The Pokies will meet at the
Rochelle parking lot (see directions below) at 8:00 for an 8:15 ride
start. The ride will be 15 miles.
The ride is on a paved bicycle path (no cars!) and is on the flat
section of the trail (no hills!). The ride is perfect for families,
children and anyone who has been shy about coming on a GCC group
ride.
Everyone is welcome to come on this ride (of course, you must
wear a bike helmet). Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower
than me and we never leave anyone behind.
The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the
back of the group to make sure no one gets lost. The ride leader is
also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other
mechanical problems.
Directions to Rochelle: Go east on
University Avenue, go over Waldo Road. About 1/4 mile east of Waldo
Road, take the right fork in the road, which is State Road 20. Go
about 5 miles east on SR 20, and cross the bridge over Prairie Creek.
About 1/4 mile past the bridge, turn right onto County Road 2082.
about 1/2 mile, the Rochelle parking lot will be on the right, at the
intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234. Why
Hokey Pokey rides? Cause that's what it's all about! If you have questions, please e-mail me. Chandler Otis chanbike@xxxxxxx
