Riders,
Heads up so you can schedule an easier day
beforehand or change your ride:
Next Thursday the MS150
ride will include a lactate threshold test time trial series based on Chris
Carmichael's system. Carmichael is Lance's coach and the
author of _Training for the Time-Crunched Cyclist_ (a must read, btw).
If you can't do it Thursday, we can take care of you on Wednesday
behind the Developers' Ride. The test consists of a serious
warm-up and two eight minute time trials (full bore) with a long rest in
between. NO AERO EQUIPMENT for the test unless you are an
accomplished TTist or triathlete and extremely comfortable in that
position.
I recommend you go to Jeff Plasschaert at Shands UF Sports
Performance for 100% accurate lactate threshold testing and how to use it.
Friends and customers report 100% satisfaction with his testing.
If you don't like needles or can't pony up the $100, this
test will get you pretty close.
Before the ride we'll have a brief and elementary
discussion of how you can use the results.
You
will need a heart rate monitor and/or a power meter, and a timer.
Truly, a HR monitor is fine.
