To all HighBees,

I thought I needed to be out of town but it was postponed and I discussed the ride with Jo Weaver who posted a shorter, in town ride for the morning so that folks could drive to Fanning Springs later for the GCC picnic. The HighBee ride is being changed to the following:

Day: Saturday, July 17, 2010

Time: 8:30 am meeting, 8:45 am departure. We want this ride to coincide with the GCC Picnic at Fanning Springs we’ll leave as noted so we can get to Fanning Springs ahead of the start time for the picnic so if anyone wants to swim in the springs or just hang out for a while there will be time to do that.

Meeting Place: The Nature Coast Trailhead in Trenton, Florida. There is an old train depot just north of SR 26 on US 129 in Trenton, if you haven’t been there before.

Route and Mileage: We will ride a route I did on MapMyRide.com and the link is www.mapmyride.com/route/us/fl/trenton/819127913344550365  It is about 30 miles to Fanning Springs and then about 9-10 miles on the NCT back to Trenton for a total of about 39-40 miles.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16-17 MPH. This is a no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.

Membership Requirements: Please note that HighBee rides are open to all GCC members who wish to participate. Those that are non-members may ride with the group as a guest of a sponsoring member once without being required to be a member.

Special note for this ride: Those interested in swimming in the springs should plan to bring a bathing suit and towel perhaps tied to their handlebars and can change at the park. There is an entrance fee to the park, which I think is $2.00 for bikes.

To avoid confusion about the ride notices, please e-mail back if you are planning to do this ride.

Thanks,

Mike
