Saddle Tramps will
ride Sunday , June 5th,
from Earl P. Powers Park on Hawthorne Road circumnavigating the Newnans
Lake and back on the
Gainesville Hawthorne
Trail--approximately 24 miles
total.
Powers
Park is four miles
from the intersection of University Avenue East, and Hawthorne Road,
with a left turn into the parking lot and boat launch at Newnans
Lake.
Be at
the Park by 8:00 a.m. for an 8:10 a.m. departure in order to beat the
heat.
There are bathrooms at the park, and we will stop on the east side of
Newnans Lake for a short break. There is also a convenience store
at the intersection of Hawthorne Road and C.R. 234. Bring plenty of
water or sports drink. Much of this ride is shaded, however
it is getting to be very hot.
If you want to consider a longer option, be at my house (516 N.E.
2nd Street) at 7:10 a.m for about 8 miles (each way) to Powers Park and
back.
