Hi Everyone, Many of you know our club member Scott Erker. Scott has been a regular participant (and sometimes coordinator) on the club's Sunrise and Sunset rides, and I am sure he does many other club rides as well. Scott is also the club's jersey coordinator. More importantly, Scott is just a great all around guy, and I personally have really enjoyed riding with him over the years. Scott's wife died unexpectedly on Wednesday. This is obviously a terrible time for his family, and we are all heartbroken for him. Some club members have been batting around ideas as to how the club can show support for Scott and his family. One way we thought we could show support is to provide some food for Scott and his kids over the next while. Perhaps this gesture will bring a small measure of stability, and allow Scott and his family to be focusing on the more important aspects of their lives for the next little while. I know some of you are planning on doing some cooking for his family. We also thought we could get GCC members to indirectly 'cook' for Scott and his family by making a monetary donation. We will collect donations over the next few weeks and turn the money into food gift certificates (GatorFood service, etc...). We will of course get Scott's input on how the money can best help out. We are going to receive donations via PayPal. To 'cook' a meal for Scott and his family, please click on the following link (or copy and paste it into your web browser): https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=BKR2JM5HKRVKL Then add the amount you wish to donate and click update total. Then enter in your credit card/billing information and follow the instructions. The line on your credit card statement will say 'PayPal jjones2'. This is my personal PayPal account, and I have teamed up with Scott Pfaff to ensure transparency. I will periodically forward him account statements so he can see the transactions taking place. Please note, PayPal charges a 4% transaction fee ($1 on a $25 donation for example), but even with the fee, we feel it is the easiest way to allow club members to help Scott Erker and his family out. I will periodically update the club with totals. I will keep the donation option open for the next three weeks. Scott - I know I speak for all club members when I say that you and your family are in all of our thoughts. Jonathan (Sunrise ride coordinator).
