Saturday December 9, Strays will venture to Clermont, west of Orlando,
to
cycle 30 hilly miles, including the notorious
Sugarloaf
Mountain.
This ride is not associated
with
Sommersports and is not a Sommersports event, but does follow one of their
previous routes.
Ride start will be from the Waterfront Park on the
southeastern side of Lake Minneola in Clermont.
Arrive at 10:15 am for a 10:30 departure. This late
departure should make the driving a bit easier and also allow the temps to
rise
in to the 50s for our start.
Speeds 2.5 - 46 mph, depending on terrain.
Average speed has typically been 13 -
14 mph in recent times for the Strays. However I suspect the
average for this ride will be below 12
mph given the number of hills on this ride.
There may be a convenience store on this ride, but no promises, its
been
awhile since I've ridden the route.
A .jpg map of the ride will be provided for anyone who requests
one
before Friday evening.
Post ride the hungry may head to a local restaurant for
late lunch.
There is a Thai place that may be a good possibility, but we'll take a
vote.
No pacelines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social
ride.
Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides,
mirrors recommended, headphones
forbidden.
Safety protocols are always observed
on
Strays rides
