![]() Strays get ready to ride from the Ravine Gardens parking
lot
On Saturday February 25, Strays will ride about 27 miles, joining
the
North Florida Bike Club at Ravine Gardens in Palatka for the Cracker Swamp
ride.
This will include a bike ride through Ravine Gardens itself to check out
the
Azaleas (cost $1).
Our leader for this ride will be Barbara
Bates, a long time GCC member and a resident of Palataka.
Arrive at Ravine Gardens parking lot at 9:45 am to
depart
at 10 am.
Speed 2.5 - 46 mph, depending on terrain.
Average speed has typically been 13 -
14 mph in recent times. This ride will likely be in the
12 -
13 mph range.
Post ride the hungry may head to a local restaurant for lunch, most
likely
Stillwells.
No pacelines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social
ride.

mirrors recommended, headphones
forbidden.
Safety protocols are always observed
on
Strays rides

"SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 10:00 AM, C/S - Cracker
Swamp
Ride from Ravine State Gardens in Palatka. 27 miles
on smooth, quiet, back roads east of Palatka. Take US
17 into Palatka. Turn right on Mosley Av., go 3/4 of
a mile and turn left on Twigg St. Watch for small
brown signs pointing to Ravine State Gardens. Riders
will meet in front of the park, in the parking lot on
Twigg St.
SOCIAL RIDE CAPTAIN: Barbara Bates
Barbara Bates is an NFBC member who lives in Palatka a
few blocks from Ravine State Gardens. Barbara is a
true C/S rider. She will not leave anyone
behind. If
this ride is too slow for you ...she does have good
maps which will be provided at the ride start. Last
year, there were more riders from the Gainesville
Cycling Club on Barbara's ride, than from NFBC. Let's
not let this happen again. ;-)
