Monday May 28 Strays will ride about 30
miles taking in Fanning Springs river park, Chiefland, and the
Nature
Coast trail up to Old Town and back, crossing the Suwannee River.
Arrive at the Fanning Springs Trail head next to Huckleberry
BarBQ on
US 19 at 8:15 am for an 8:30
departure.
Average speed has typically been 13 -
14 mph in recent times for the Strays. There will be no
hills on this ride.
There will be rest room / convenience store stops
at several
points in the ride.
Post ride the hungry will head up to Hart Springs to join
in swimming
and competition eating at the GCC picnic. Don't forget your snorkel!
No pacelines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social
ride.
Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides,
mirrors recommended, headphones
forbidden.

![]() To get from Gainesville to the Fanning Springs
start:
Travel west on 26 (Newberry Road) thru Newberry and Trenton, about 32
miles
until 26 merges with US 19. Go west on US 19 about a quarter of a mile and
you
will cross the Nature Coast Bike Trail. The parking area for the trail will
be
on the north side of US 19 between the bike trail and Huckleberry's
Barbecue.
To get to Hart Springs from Fanning Springs:
Go east on US 19 and north on 26 for about 2.5 miles, turn north on
341 and
go 4 miles to SW 45th st. (344 West). Go west on SW 45th for 2.6 miles
to
the Hart Springs entrance.
