Hi, everyone
Andrew and I will be joining the Everglades
Bicycle Club's Tour of the Conch Republic ride in December. A few
cyclists at the Labor Day picnic asked about this event, which I have
posted on Facebook, so I'm sending this reminder. We will be
riding from Homestead, FL to Key West and back, from 12/02/11 to
approximately 12/08/11.
Event: Tour of the Conch Republic
Dates: 12/02-12/03/11
Where: Homestead-Miami Speedway to Key West, FL (with one
overnight stop in Marathon)
Please note: this 2-day event is geared towards cyclists who are
capable of cycling about 80 miles per day. (Day 1 ride distance is 80
miles. Day 2 is 55 miles).
The EBC event is a ONE-WAY ride, so
participants must arrange their own transportation back to Homestead after
reaching Key West.
That's where we come in.....
We will be cycling back
to Homestead, making 1 or 2 overnight stops on the way back. We would
love some company, either for the 2-day EBC ride, or our entire
trip.
We will be staying on in Key West after the EBC
event is over, and will be there for 3 nights. You are welcome to
join us for the optional snorkeling trip to Fort Jefferson in the Dry
Tortugas while in Key West. We plan to head back north on December
6th, allowing 2 days to get back to Homestead.
Although EBC will transport cyclists' luggage to Key West for
the southbound ride, we will NOT have a SAG support on the way back, but
will be self-supported, so you will need to be, too. (Unless you have a
family member or friend who is willing to do this).
