In our continuing tradition of cycling and eating, Strays will ride about 19 miles on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail on Tuesday evening April 8, weather cooperating, followed by $2 hamburger / sausage-sub night at Market Street Pub.

Meet at 5:30 PM, at the grass parking lot, next to the intersection of Angle Road (234) and the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail, for a 5:45 pm departure.

Strays have been authorized legal permission to ride the trail after dark.

Legal lighting is required for this ride. A white headlight, a blinking or steady red tail light, and a passive red rear reflector (most blinkys are also passive red reflectors). Other reflective materials/lights, and brightly colored clothing, are advisable and recommended. It will only be dark in the last quarter of the ride, but lights are still a necessity for that portion.

No speed limit, this is a training ride, but mostly hanging around 12 - 14 mph.

There will be a convenience store / rest room stop at the mid point in Hawthorne, if desired.

For those who don't want to ride, or can't, but want to join us for the food, we usually make it to MSP between 8 - 8:30 pm.

No pacelines, no racing, no wheel sucking, just a fun social ride.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

To get to the start point at the Angle Road & GHT intersection:

Take 26 (University Ave) east out of Gainesville to the juncture of 26 and 20 (Hawthorne Road). Take 20 east for 5 miles. Turn right on 2082 and travel 1.25 miles. The grass lot is on the right, in front of the bike trail, just before the intersection of 2082 and 234. There is a rest room 1/4 mile east of this parking area, on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail.

To get to the Market Street Pub:

From the intersection of University and Main, go south on Main one block and turn right, Market Street Pub is on the right in two blocks. If you don't see us out front, be sure and look around inside, we sometimes find a warm smoke free cubbyhole. If the ride runs late because of flats, cows on the trail, suicide rabbits; armadillos and deer, lights jumping off at bridges, astronomy stops, MSP not open, ect. the restaurant venue may change to Mi Apa (call my cell about 7:30 if you want to know the final destination)
