Thre will be a "Stand Down" for homeless veterans at the M.L. King
Center, corner of NE 8th avenue and Waldo Road on Thursday and Friday,
Sept. 8-9. Times are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12
noon Friday.
The "Stand Down" is sponsored by the VA Hospital and other veteran
groups to provide food, clothing, medical screening and bicycle repair for
homeless veterans.
Chandler will be there to help veterans with bike repairs.
Anyone who would like to help is certainly invited. We can use any
bike parts, especially inner tubes, tires (new or used) and any functional
adult bicycles.
We will be fixing bikes on the north side of the M.L. King Center,
which has shade.
In the past, the Rolling Thunder motorcycle club has provided lunch to
vets and volunteers (Hamburgers and hot dogs, e-yummy!)
