Don't forget to put this on your calendar, the Gainesville Cycling
Club is having a picnic on Saturday, July 19 at Fanning Springs State
Park.
There is a 37 mile long paved rail-trail (The Nature Coast Trail) next
to the park, and Fanning Springs is a lovely crystal clear spring,
excellent for swimming.
Ride groups may want to organize rides that arrive at the
picnic.
Chandler will announce the picnic menu next week and will send out an
e-mail asking for RSVP's with the menu.
Fanning Springs State Park is 45 miles west of
Gainesville. Take State Road 26 (Newberry Road) west,
through Newberry and through Trenton. Continue on SR 26 to Fanning
Springs, where the road dead ends into US 19. Turn right (west) on US 19,
the park will be about 1/4 mile west on the left (south) side of US
19. Entry fees to the park are $4 per carfull of people, or $1
for bike riders.
