Dear League Club (the Gainesville Cycling Club is affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists):

We've teamed up with a world-renowned ride, El Tour de Tucson, in its 25th year, and we are also offering League-only tours on the Thursday and Friday before El Tour. For one price, you are registered to ride in one of the coolest rides in the U.S., and you get your choice of 11 other rides on two days. Did we mention that dinners with other League members are included?! We have lots of options for bringing guests, and kids, so sign your entire family up for the 2007 League Rally: The event of a lifetime!

Also, this is a great opportunity to visit a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community.  The Bicycle Friendly Communities Campaign is an awards program that recognizes municipalities that actively support bicycling. A Bicycle-Friendly Community provides safe accommodation for cycling and encourages its residents to bike for transportation and recreation. The City of Tucson and Pima County are working together as equal partners in a new Safe Routes to Schools Program and a “Share the Road” guide.  And Among Tucson’s most notable qualifications for the BFC award are the policy of the Mayor and City Council to include bike lanes on all new street construction, as well as on all reconstruction projects.  Click here to learn more about the Bicycle Friendly Community of Tucson & East Pima Region, AZ

The Rally consists of three days of fully-supported bicycling activities including:

  • entrance into any one of El Tour de Tucson’s main events: 109, 82, 66, 35 miles or Kids & Family Fun Ride on Saturday, November 17; and
  • a choice of riding in any two different Rally tours (one on Thursday and one on Friday) which feature the attractions of Tucson and Pima County, while showcasing their bike ability as a gold-level Bicycle Friendly Community;
  • two dinners, the El Tour Dedication Dinner on November 15, and the League National Rally Dinner on November 15;
  • And participation in the many El Tour activities, including: the Wellness Conference; El Tour Bike, Fitness & Health EXPO; Golf Classic (extra fees apply); Downtown Fiesta; Orientation Meetings; and the Closing Ceremony.

We hope to see your club there!  Register for El Tour de Tucson and the National Rally!
