The Harvest of Hope Vegan Chili Cookoff is Saturday, August 8 from 1-8
p.m. at the Kickstand, the local bicycle repair co-op.
The Kickstand, the local bicycle collective is near downtown, at 722
South Main Street.
The event is a benefit for Harvest of Hope, which distributes food to
needy families.
Gainesville Cycling Club will have a big pot of chili at the
event.
The event will also have a variety of other exhibits and
music.
Chandler's view of the event: This is a great
chance to enjoy bad music by local garage bands, eat vegi chili and get to
enjoy an anthropological look at the current "alternative" young
people. Seriously, the young activists at the Kickstand have put
together a community bike shop, that helps low income people keep their
bikes mobile.
If you are downtown Saturday, you might want to visit the
Kickstand. I'll be there with a big pot of chili.
