We
had a really great evening ride tonight, just short of 50 miles, and
finished up
very much in the dark. It really felt great once the wind died down,
and
the temp was perfect.
I
will not be posting the Thursday night ride as there were a number of
riders
tonight (we had a total of 10 finish the entire ride) that didn't have
enough
lights to see the road once the sun set. It is OK to have a little
"Blinkie" when you are riding in town under the street lights. It is
a
completly different story when you are riding at 20 mph on black
pavement.
I think those without the proper lighting would agree. If we want to
continue to train and get better, we will be forced to ride at night.
So... I will be posting a ride for next Tuesday, but on
Tuesday, it will be a must to have proper lighting. That is either 10
watts or at least 100+lumens. (Yes last time I did suggest at least
200,
and I still think that is best, but ok there are some 100 lumen lights that
would be acceptable)
I
don't know what the commercialism rule on the list serv is, but if there is
a
Bike Shop in the G'ville area that would offer a group purchase, please let
me
know off line and I'll try to put a package together for anyone that wants
to do
night rides.
Thanks for another wonderful SAFE evening, I wanna keep it
that
way.
