Here is the update on the temporary closure of the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail, from Steve Stackhouse, Asst. Mgr. of Paynes Prairie.  Thanks to Dorit for prompting this inquiry so we can all be up-to-date.  I will transmit further news as I receive it.

As of Friday evening, it is TEMPORARILY open the entire way.  A new culvert was installed this week, but elevating and repaving a section of the trail is on tap for next week….it will be closed in that short section near Rochelle.  Barricades will be placed across the trail to stop/divert users.  I’ll let you know asa the project is done and we’re back to “normal”

I'm pretty sure the construction if complete, but I am copying Steve Stackhouse on this email so he can let us know if there still is a problem.  In any case, it is a short detour, I think.
