The Gainesville Cycling Club is having a picnic on Saturday, July 19
at
Fanning Springs State Park. Food will begin about
noon.
Club members are asked to bring a side dish. Please RSVP with
menu
selection (see below).
There is a 37 mile long paved rail-trail (The Nature Coast Trail) next
to
the park, and Fanning Springs is a lovely crystal clear spring, excellent
for
swimming.
Ride groups may want to organize rides that arrive at the picnic. Or
you
can make up your own ride, the rail-trail is very safe and you can't get
lost. Everyone should take the opportunity to visit the bridge over
the
Suwannee River where you can watch the sturgeon jump.

Food Safety notice: We would ask that Club
members
remove bicycle gloves and wash hands before getting near the
food. Bicycle gloves tend to have lots of fun bacteria, and
have
been associated with food poisoning incidents at bike events. We will
have
hand sanitizer at the picnic and Fanning has excellent bathrooms

MENU: Italian sub (ham,
turkey, salami, provolone cheese)
GCClub
sandwich (ham, turkey, Swiss cheese)
Hot
dog(s)--- all beef, either Oscar Meyer or Hebrew National
I will pre-prepare the sandwiches without veggies or
dressing.
You will have lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mustard, mayo and Italian
dressing to dress your sandwiches.
Please RSVP to
Chandler
Otis (Chanbike@xxxxxxx) to let
me know which selections you want (you can have more than one). This
helps
me know how much food to buy and prepare. Please RSVP by
Friday noon.
