Special Note Concerning Future High Bee Rides Posted By Me

In an effort to keep to everyone happy about High Bees rides posted by me, kindly understand that those riding with us rightfully expect that the rides will be maintained at a 16-17 mph pace.  Therefore, in all of my future online GCC ride postings, please expect to see this reminder.  Further, I will ask those present before the ride starts if they anticipate riding in excess of the 16-17 mph pace.  For those that do, kindly plan to leave just before the main group does.  Those of us remaining will start and maintain our ride at the posted 16-17 mph pace.  Thank you for your understanding.

This week’s ride info:

Day: Saturday, December 27th

Time: 9:00am meeting, 9:15 departure

Meeting Place: Chevron Station, on the corner of NW 43rd St and NW 53rd Ave.

Route and Mileage: We will do the Persimmon Krishna Loop with a couple of changes. We will take CR 235 north to CR 235-A from NW 78th Ave as opposed to going out to US 27/41 so we can avoid the rough asphalt on CR 2054 heading to Peggy Rd in Alachua, which will cut off a little mileage, but we’ll continue on CR 235 north of Alachua to Lacrosse and turn south on SR 121 and west on NW 156th Ave and we’ll make it up. The whole ride should be around 38-40 miles.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16 MPH; a little faster based on terrain and slower on climbs. This is a friendly, no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.

Two special notes regarding this week’s ride:

  1. Since it is a holiday week, please reply to this e-mail to let me know if you are going to be there; so I can be sure we have a group to ride. I’ll follow up with another e-mail later in the week to confirm. I’m sure there are enough riders planning to ride regardless of the holiday, but I know as well that there are a lot of people out of town for the holiday.
  2. Again I’d like to extend the offer to the LoBees to join us on this ride if they would like to. Last week we had Stan and Tammy join us and I think they both felt comfortable with the pace. If there are several LoBees on the ride we can always break up into two groups if necessary. But if another LoBee ride isn’t posted by anyone in Bob’s absence, please feel free to come out and ride with us.

Thanks,

Mike
