The Hokey Pokey group will explore the Bellamy Road on Saturday, Jan. 21.  The 16 mile bike ride will start at Oleno State Park with a 9:15 meeting time, 9:30 departure.  The famous chili picnic is at noon.

This ride will be on some roads with cars, including a one-mile stretch of  US 441 (there is a bike lane). A bike with larger tires is recomended, such as a hybrid bike, a comfort bike or a mountain bike.   The Bellamy Road is limerock, and a few portions are sandy.

We will ride to the Bellamy Road,  the first Federal road built in Florida in 1826.  The road inside the park is still in its original condition, and has several informational kiosks.   The ride leader will return to Oleno via the road route, but those with fat tire bikes may want to return via Oleno's dirt biking trail.

There may also be a group that rides the dirt biking/hiking trail to Bellamy Road.  Stay tuned for any announcements.

After the ride we will eat chili and other food offerings, don't forget to bring a salad, desert or chili!    Following the picnic, there will be hiking on Oleno's historic trails.

Oleno State Park is on US 441 eight miles north of High Springs.  There is an entry fee to the Park, $6 per car with up to eight people, $4 for single occupant car, $2 for bike or pedestrian.
