This week’s ride info:

Please note that this week’s ride will coincide with the GCC picnic in Fanning Springs State Park. We’ll arrive at the picnic by bike and ride back to the starting point of the ride following lunch at the picnic site.

Day: Saturday, July 18, 2009

Time: 8:00 am meeting, 8:15am departure. We would be leaving a little earlier due to the hot weather as we discussed previously, but since we want this ride to coincide with the GCC Picnic at Fanning Springs we’ll leave as noted so we can get to Fanning Springs ahead of the start time for the picnic so if anyone wants to swim in the springs or just hang out for a while there will be time to do that.

Meeting Place: The Nature Coast Trailhead in Trenton, Florida. There is an old train depot just north of SR 26 on US 129 in downtown Trenton, if you haven’t been there before.

Route and Mileage: We will ride west on the Nature Coast Trail and turn north to ride to Bell following the route marked as a Cycling Club Preferred Route on the map produced by the North Central Florida Regional Planning Council. . In Bell we’ll take CR 341 west and then south back to the NCT right near Fanning Springs and ride into the park. After the picnic we’ll ride the NCT back to Trenton where we started. I am estimating the ride to Fanning Springs as routed to be around 33 miles and the ride back to Trenton afterwards to be around 12 miles for a total of around 45 miles.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 16-17 MPH. This is a no drop ride; we re-group at all turns when needed.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate pace and moderate distance, please feel free to join us.

Thanks,

Mike
