Hello, GCC...
I'm wondering if there is anyone out there, perhaps in the Jonathon Jones Sunrise
Sunday group, who would like to start with the training Century
riders this Sat 25 Aug at 700 am from the NW 43rd Chevron?
Then when
the century group makes the left turn onto CR 1491, we would keep going on
CR 236. We would continue east on 236, then right turn on CR 239,
left turn on SR 235, right turn on CR 237, left turn on 156th Ave, right
turn on NW 5pth Dr....it runs by the little dairy, left turn on 25A to 441,
then the usual in NW 43rd to the finish line sign. Although, Paul, exactly which sign are
you using for the finish...the first yellow one or the dark brown
one?
For those of you that remember, this is simply a
modified version of the old 55 mile short route of the Santa Fe Century.
From Start to Finish at the NW 43rd Chevron...this total
distance will be between 45-50 miles.
Depending on who wants to do
this, I would like to cruise as
close to 20 mph as possible. If a lot of people show, cruising
speed could be like the typical Sunrise group...average ~20 mph, flat road
look-down speed of 20-22+ mph. The hill sprints can be on Underwood Hill (NW 202 St) and
at the usual hill on
236. We can stay with the Century group to the split or move
on at our speed right from the beginning.
If anyone does this with
me...I really urge us not to contest Chestnut Hill or the I75 over pass hill on CR
236. Both these roads lack bike lanes, Chestnut Hill has poor
visibility, and both can have "surprise" traffic. Having 5-6 (or
more) cycling fiends racing up these hills,
all over the lane, is not a good idea. But, those of you who
do...we'll just run you down as the pack moves up the road. Of course the
43rd finish line is the same and speeds in to the finish could be pushing
30+ mph.

I intend to do this either way, solo, with a
partner, or in a group...but a group makes it more fun.
