Hi Gang,
Most of you have not met me (yet).
I am
a 45 year old who went back to UF to get a Master's in Architecture, a
super
tough program if you don't know it already. Well, increasingly
bicycling
played a larger role in keeping me fit, giving me the stamina to complete
the
college's rigorous expectations. I was preparing to ride with
you all
finally this summer as I had a lighter schedule.
Mid-March this year I crashed onto concrete,
up and
over the bike onto a flexed knee into chest, knocked the wind out of myself
and
am just now walking without a huge limp, still cannot jog very far without
causing swelling to just right of the kneecap over the end of the fibia
bone. 3 1/2 months later. Most people might be happy with
walking
but not me, I want what capability I had and MORE, and willing to work
at
it. Patience is not one of my virtues, but 3 1/2 months seems a long
time
to me?
I am seeing Acupuncturists, UF Physical
therapists,
took x-rays and MRI's, they see only ligament strains on film..........some
internal fluid............they say multiple soft tissue damage probably,
but
nobody knows where I'll be in 6 months............nobody says
100%
Usually surrounded by fellow students who
can't
relate, I remind them too much of their father, lol :-) I NEEDED
TO
HEAR SOME COME-BACK STORIES ABOUT FALLING HARD AND GETTING BACK TO IT
ALL, I am no stranger to trials and tribulations but this one is
totally
new to me and I find it hard to navigate my way sometimes, I just get
down
sometimes, need to stay postive, I will start riding with you all as soon
as I
can :-)
Anyway, just reaching out,
Thank you,
Demetri
