The Hokey Pokey ride group may ride on Saturday, if Chandler can sell his tickets to the UF vs USF football game (the game starts at noon, let's hope the Sept 18 game is scheduled for 4 p.m. or 8 p.m.).

If someone else would like to lead this Saturday's ride, that would be good.  As leader, you can pick the route and time.     I can be at the ride start to pass out maps and to pump up tires and do safety checks on bicycles.

TENTATIVE PLAN:  Riders should assemble at Rochelle at 8:15 a.m. for a 8:30 ride start.  The plan is to ride the eastern half of the Gainesville Hawthorne Rail trail (ride to Hawthorne and back) about 19 miles.  It may be a good day to stay off the highways because of football automobile traffic. even if I don't ride, I can be at Rochelle to pass out maps and check bikes.

Sept 18 tentative plan:   Let's ride the northernmost 20 miles of the Santa Fe Century.  You will see farm roads with almost no auto traffic, and can visit the Gilchrist Sausage Factory and yummy, eat a suasage dog.    This ride does require driving 30 to 37 miles to the village of Providence for the ride start. This also depends on having the UF vs Tenn. game scheduled for 4 p.m.or 8 p.m.

Directions to Rochelle:   Go east on University Avenue, go over Waldo Road.  About 1/4 mile east of Waldo Road, take the right fork in the road, which is State Road 20.  Go about 5 miles east on SR 20, and cross the bridge over Prairie Creek.  About 1/4 mile past the bridge, turn right onto County Road 2082.  about 1/2 mile, the Rochelle parking lot will be on the right, at the intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234.
