The Gainesville Cycling Club will have a picnic at Fanning Springs State Park on Saturday, July 18.  Food will be served around noon.

Ride Groups:  Please organize rides that either begin at Fanning Springs, or make Fanning your destination from Gainesville.

I will send out an e-mail asking for  RSVP's next week.  Tentative menu:  "Dress yourself sandwiches" and hot dogs.   The sandwiches will be meat and cheese on kaiser rolls or sub rolls, and all the fixings to "dress" your sandwich.  The Meats will include turkey, ham, salami in various combinations, with swiss, provolone and/or cheaddar cheese.   The Fixings will include lettuce, tomatoe, onion, green peper, sweet pepper, mayo, mustard, and italian dressing.  Hot dog condiments will include mustard, katsup, sweet relish, onion and saurkraut.

Fanning Springs has excellent swimming

The Nature Coast Trail, a 37 mile long paved bike trail, runs right by Fanning Springs.  This bike trail is perfect for families (no cars on the trail) or casual riders.  The highlight of the trail is the railroad bridge over the Suwannee River.

Fanning Springs State Park is west of Gainesville on the Suwannee River.  Take University Avenue (State Road 26) west to Newberry, then to Trenton.  Continue on SR 26 to Fanning Springs where you will turn right (west) onto US 19.  The Park will be 1/4 mile down the road on the left.

New Park Fees: Entry fees for State Parks have gone up.  One person in a car is $4, up to eight people in a car is $6, bicyclists and pedestrians are $2.
