Hey, guys and girls...

no compromised compression...that is referring to my left ventricle where the plaque blockage in the upper 1/3 of the circumflex artery...sometimes sweetly referred to as the "widowmaker"...occurred.

Those three words mean I reacted so fast, got help so fast, got cathed and stented so fast...that I have no measurable damage to my heart.  You do not want to know all the little side details...but, bottom line...over the next few weeks, months, but within the year, it appears likely, I will be able to do anything I ever did before or want to do in the future.

I'm thinking of getting in shape by Spring so when Huan blows by me at 27+ mph late in the R2R, I can throw green tea bags at him as I watch him pull away...but I will try to stay on Kerry's wheel. ;)

I know I drive some of you crazy with my attention to detail...that shows up with too many numbers about speed, distance, averages, etc in emails.  It manifests itself everyday when I teach physics.  But, it was that attention to details, micromanaging my physiology, keeping a running tab on how my bike feels, how fast we are going, what's the terrain like, how do I feel...what hurts and why, etc., etc. that saved my heart and my life.

My Cardio Doc, Tim Wessel, says I'm a head shaker...ie. unique.  I guess so...or just damn lucky that despite my genetics, years of running, swimming, cycling built me a heart that is hard to kill...despite the best attempts of some bacteria.

This has ultimately been an adventure...lots I learned, more to go.  Listen to your body.  Get ultrasounded for plaque.  Ride hard.  It saved my life, it could save yours.

I really look forward to seeing Team Sunrise tomorrow.  Bye, Bob
