Dear GCC,

It has become apparent that an e-mail of mine from Saturday has been misunderstood as offensive when it was meant to be anything but rude, mean or degrading.

Banter (especially among the A's) seems to occur on a weekly basis, so I made a mistake at humor that has been misunderstood on many levels.  My intention was to direct "Rated G" light humor Jayson's way, but it seems that it has been interpreted as anger and/or use of inappropriate language.

First, it was intended as humor, nothing else.  The last thing I would ever desire is to directly berate someone else, whether in private or especially in public, such as this public forum.  Please know that it hurts *me* to hurt other people.  Those who know me well understands this to be true.

Second, I was not making fun of anything except the fact that Jayson is from Australia; and he therefore naturally does not like Kiwi's (people from New Zealand).  I simply called Jason a "Kiwi" sheep "herder," not to be confused with another word that has been used on this listserve in the past.  There was no intention, implied or otherwise, to relate those two words.  I was trying to write anything but a derogatory statement.

Even though weekly banter still exists on this listserve, I have purposely tried to minimize commentary once it was brought to my attention (at least one year ago) that use of this listserve should be limited to bikes, rides, and other matters of interest to the club.  I did not think anything of my e-mail from Saturday, and I do sincerely apologize for it not being clear enough for my intentions to shine through.  It now serves as an example that written communication is often misunderstood, *and* that banter should probably kept to a minimum if not abolished altogether.

Please accept my apology and this interruption of your day.  Thank you.

mk
