Not sure if anyone new this cyclist, but
thought
you all might find it interesting. This cyclist wasn't hit by the
car, but
by furniture sticking out of the truck. I think negligence is a prime
issue, as it always is.

(Jacksonville, FL) -- State troopers say a piece of
furniture sticking out from a pickup truck struck and killed a
bicyclist
on Jacksonville's westside last night. Police say the accident
happened
just before 9 p.m. on Blanding Boulevard near Collins Road. The
pickup
truck was travelling in the northbound right lane. The bicyclist,
40-year-old mark Torrez of Orange Park, was riding northbound to the
right. As the truck passed Torrez, a piece of furniture was sticking
out
of the cargo bed. It struck the bicycle rider in the head. Torrez was
pronounced dead on the scene. State troopers say charges are pending
against the truck driver, 20-year-old Joseph Painter of
Jacksonville. |
