Hey several of you have asked about the Gels that I carry,
and
have had great success with.
Here it is:
1
pound maltodextrin (can purchase at the beer supply shop next to the Super
Cool
Bike shop.)
1/2 cup of sugar (can substitute with Brown Sugar, or other
short
chain sugars, honey)
1/2 teaspoon Light Salt (sodium/potassium
chloride)
10
ounces (+/-) hot water
Flavoring. (to taste with either cocoa powder, banana
extract, vanilla, etc)
Put hot water in blender, add the other ingredients and
blend
until smooth. Place in flasks
Keep in the refrigerator until needed.
I
like making my own gels as I know exactly what I'm taking during a long
ride. I only get what I need and have had very good results with this
product.
I
have heard of some riders adding whey powder, for instant protein,
for
very long rides, but I haven't tried it.
Remember the 8 hours of Labor Mt. Bike Race Labor Day (out
at San
Felasco, Alachua Florida)
Also The Tour De Felasco is coming up in January.
