Strays take a break from the hills at the McIntosh Grocery  10-07-06

Saturday November 4,  Strays will ride a scenic, hilly 25-30 miles taking in McIntosh, Boardman, Dungarvin Rd, and NW 210. Although this ride includes many roads Strays have ridden before, it will be a new route, and will include a tour of McIntosh itself.

Arrive in Flemington Community Park at 10 am for a 10:15 start. This should put our start temperature well above 50 degrees.

Ride speed range 5 - 36 mph, varying with terrain.

Average speed in recent times has typically been approaching 14 mph,  but we will probably end up with something more like 12, given the hills. This ride is not flat.

There will be a convenience store or rest room opportunity about every 10 miles.

No pace lines, no wheel sucking, no racing, just a fun social ride.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

Safety  protocols  are  always  observed on Strays rides
NEW RIDERS  must read  the  following  before  joining  us:

There are two good ways to get to Flemington from Gainesville.

First way:
This is the scenic route!
Take I 75 to Micanopy, exit on to 234 west, follow until it becomes 329. Follow 329 south, and Flemington Park will be on your right just before you get to 318. Distance from Micanopy 234 exit to Flemington Park by this route is 7 miles.

Second way:
Take I 75 all the way to Irvine (intersection of 318). Go west on 318 for 3.25 miles until you come to the intersection of 329. Turn right (north) on 329. The park will be on your left about a quarter mile  from the intersection. Distance from Micanopy 234 exit to Flemington Park by this route is about 10 miles.

Distance from Gainesville (I75 & 121 intersection) to the 234 exit in Micanopy is about 9 miles.
