Fellow GCC'rs:

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Please join me in breaking out your PINK and joining the fight to END BREAST CANCER by participating in the 2nd Annual Pink Ribbon Ride on Saturday, October 8th (Rain Date: Sunday, Oct. 9th).

Meeting Place:  Walgreens in Alachua at the intersection of 441 and Main Street. Please park only in the spaces along the northeast corner of the parking lot.

Meeting Time:  Meet at 8:15 am for roll-out at 8:30 am

Route and Mileage:  Total route mileage is 60 miles with rest stops at Miles 25 and 45. We will head north on 241, ride through Providence and visit the beautiful northern portion of the Santa Fe Century route before heading back to Alachua. This route features the famous Mebane Hill, but is otherwise relatively tame. There will be an alternate route of 31 miles (rest stop at Mile 16) available for those who need to finish earlier. Maps will be provided at the start of the ride. This is a B-level ride with an average ride speed of 14 - 15 mph.

Special Stuff:
  • Honor loved ones who've been touched by breast cancer by placing their names on a pink ribbon to be pinned to your ride jersey. Wear pink (bandannas will be available) and let Gainesville know you support the fight to END BREAST CANCER!
  • Stick around after the ride for a post-ride celebration and lunch at Main Street Pizza (two blocks south of Walgreens).
  • Consider a donation to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation by writing a check or donating online:  https://secure.info-komen.org/site/Donation

The
Pink Ribbon Ride is a great warm-up for the upcoming Gainesville Cycling Festival. Let's have a great turn-out for a great cause!
