Nanci, Velvet, Allen and Chuck hanging out after barbecue at Tims Fast Nickel

Saturday December 23,  Strays will ride out from Tim's Fast Nickel on a ride around Newnans Lake and on the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail. This is a ride in the range of  31-33  miles.

Meet at Tim's Fast Nickel at 9 am for an 9:15 departure.  Tim says its ok to park on the grass.  Best bet, park along the fence at the west end of the grass lot.

Ride speed range 2.5 - 46 mph, varying with terrain.

Average speed in recent times has typically been approaching 14 mph,  This ride is mostly flat, except for a couple of small hills near the Gainesville end of the GHT, and the  moderate hills on Kincaid Rd. All of the hills will be in the first third of the ride.

Their will be a convenience store or rest room opportunity about every 10 miles.

No pace lines, no wheel sucking, no racing, just a fun social ride.

After the ride the hungry will eat Tim's barbecue, unless circumstances dictate otherwise. Bring a picnic blanket or a chair to eat lunch under the shade of the big tree.  Tim is not being allowed to keep a standing setup for picnicking on the premises, but we are allowed to provide our own.

Helmets are REQUIRED on all Strays rides, mirrors recommended, headphones forbidden.

Safety protocols are always observed on Strays rides
