The Hokey Pokey group will explore the farmlands of Columbia County, visit a sausage factory and a beautiful rural cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 18.    Riders should meet at 8:45 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start.

Please RSVP if you want to come on this ride.  If there is no interest in this ride, we can plan a ride a little closer to home.

The 20 mile route (more miles can be added) will follow the northern route of the Santa Fe Century,  starting in the town of Providence.  We will ride on farm roads, visit the Nettles Sausage Factory and visit a cemetery that has one of the most tragic set of graves and a pair of the most hilarious graves (those two must have been wild and crazy guys).

You can preview the ride route by printing the Santa Fe Century map that is on the GCC website.  The ride is the northernmost part of the map.

Providence is 35 to 40 miles north of Gainesville.  If you take I-75, get off at exit 414, turn north on US 441 and go about 1/4 mile and turn right (east) on County Road 238.  If you take US 441, go north about 37 miles and through the I-75 interchange.  About 1/4 mile past the interchange, turn right (east) onto CR 238.  Directions  to a meeting spot will follow later this week.

Everyone is welcome is come on this ride (of course, you must wear a bike helmet).  Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower than me and we never leave anyone behind.

The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the back of the group to make sure no one gets lost.  The ride leader is also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other mechanical problems.
