Riders,
I'm redesigning the Developers ride to accommodate
recent improvements and growth on the ride. The situation is that we
have a lot of Glider and entry-Flyer ("A") level riders joining
us as teachers, and they do get a little antsy as the learning group of fit
riders rocks on at about 18mph. So here is the new ride
description:
Developers is a teaching ride primarily aimed at
helping fit riders learn group etiquette, safety practices, and drafting.
Our speed limit is 18mph, and the ride is no drop. We are very
serious about keeping this part of the ride ego and testosterone free (that
goes for both men and women). If you can ride 16mph alone for about
1.5 hours, you are fit enough for this ride. In order to encourage
faster and more experienced riders to come out and mentor the newbies, the
ride captain will design certain drills into the ride that will begin after
the teaching portion is well under way. These will include
instruction in advanced racing tactics like chasing, counter-attacking,
sprint lead-outs, overcadence drills to improve pedal form, and team time
trialing. The main body of the ride always stays together, and for
the most part the faster riders are with us, since the drills are designed
for teaching and therefore short.
Let me know if any of you have any comments on the
description.
