The Hokey Pokey group will ride the back roads to Micanopy and back this Saturday, Oct 30.   Micanopy will be the half-way point, and if the group agrees, we can take a 30 minute or so stop so folks can inspect the Micanopy Harvest Festival (see details in the Gainesville Sun's Scene magazine) which will be on the main street in Micanopy.

Total mileage for the ride is 20 miles.

Riders should meet at the Rochelle parking lot (midpoint of the Gainesville Hawthorne Trail) at 9:00 a.m. for a 9:15 ride start. Directions to Rochelle are below.

Along the route we can also visit the River Styx and Oak Ridge Cemetery, where Florida's fourth Governor is buried.

Everyone is welcome is come on this ride (of course, you must wear a bike helmet).  Don't worry about being slow, no one is slower than me and we never leave anyone behind.

The ride will be chaperoned by the ride leader who will ride at the back of the group to make sure no one gets lost.  The ride leader is also a bicycle mechanic who can help fix flat tires and help with any other mechanical problems.

Directions to Rochelle:   Go east on University Avenue, go over Waldo Road.  About 1/4 mile east of Waldo Road, take the right fork in the road, which is State Road 20.  Go about 5 miles east on SR 20, and cross the bridge over Prairie Creek.  About 1/4 mile past the bridge, turn right onto County Road 2082.  about 1/2 mile, the Rochelle parking lot will be on the right, at the intersection of CR 2082 and CR 234.
