I am sending this out to the entire list because not everyone who rides "A" rides are listed as an "A rider" in the GCC database (like I wasn't until a few days ago).

I did not know that the tour is planned for this Saturday.  Couple that with the extreme temp we expect to have, even at 11am, and we may end up with a very small crew.  I don't want to jump through all of my personal hoops just to arrive and find that I am the only rider.  Can everyone who's committed to ride please let me know - preferably by 8pm?  I have a severe sleeping disorder, and I have to plan in advance in ways most of you do not.

I assume we will have a group on Sunday; but just in case, I'd like a roll call for Sunday too.

Thank you.

Subject: GCCMail: A riders weekend (N/S)

With the Tour de Felasco this Saturday, and the start of the racing season the following weekend, I won't be on the next few weekends rides.  If you would like to take over posting for the A-Riders rides for the next few months, please let me know.

Also, please note the start time for this weekend is later than normal due to the unusually cold weather.

Saturday-NORTH, January 9th: Meet at 11 am, depart at 11.15 am.  There is a chance of snowfall Friday night (first here since 1989!), dress warm.

Sunday-SOUTH, January 10th: Meet at 10 am, depart at 10.15 am.

About the

Helmets are required on all GCC Rides. Expect mileage to be in the 50-70+ range with one rest stop. Routes are determined prior to the ride depending on which way the wind is blowing and who shows up. Routes are agreed upon by consensus the morning of and may change en route. Speed is consistent 20 + mph during the ride. With surges exceeding 25 mph (and sometimes 30 mph). A- Riders do respect all road safety rules, but do not respect a specific speed limit, especially after the rest stop.  We will often regroup at major intersections before the rest stop, but not necessarily after the rest stop.  A-Riders know how to dress appropriately for the weather and don't need to sleep in until the day is almost over.

NORTHERN ROUTES: Meet:

At the Chevron station @ NW 43rd St and 53rd Ave (Hunters Crossing and Millhopper Road)

PARK: In along NW 43rd St. Start at the north end and work south. Do not park in the slots alongside the station or along NW 53rd Ave. DO NOT use the business lots east of the Chevron on Saturdays. Overflow parking is along the short east-west street south of the station. Please watch where you are standing; do not block the flow of traffic going to the pumps.

SOUTHERN ROUTES:

MEET: At the "Kangaroo (formerly Le Store)" on the NW corner of SW 34 th St and Williston Road.

PARK: At the end of SW 47th Ave just east of 34th Street across from the big Post Office. Please do not loiter in the parking area. Parking also may be available at the south end of the Publix parking lot. If you park in the Publix parking lot please park as close to 34th Street as possible. We want to keep the spots close to the stores open for shoppers, hopefully we can keep a low profile and not become a problem to the businesses in the plaza. Thanks for your help with this!
