Club,
Representatives from Waste Corporation of
America invited me to give a bicycle safety seminar to their drivers next
Wednesday morning, following an incident I reported this morning involving
one of their drivers.
I want to remind you that, while you may be offended by
a commercial driver's behavior, you can turn the encounter into an
opportunity to educate others. If you have a similar encounter,
report the incident, and offer to let GCC come speak to the company
involved. Someone from the Commuter Committee or the club leadership
can do the job.
The important thing to do is get the driver's
license or number, be kind in reporting the incident, and ask to speak to a
supervisor or manager. If you offer for the club to meet with the
company, please contact me. Most companies value risk management and
public safety, in my experience, no matter their individual drivers'
opinions or actions.
