PLAN FOR THE HEAT SATURDAY & SUNDAY:

Be sure to bring plenty of water and an energy bar or snack.

Saturday – August 13^th:

MEET: At the VAB at the vet school (easternmost building of the complex on SW 16^th Ave)

TIME: Meet at 7:45 AM for a 8:00 departure.

PLAN: This is a no drop 40ish mile ride possibly around Newnan’s Lake and back.

            (route is subject to change due to weather considerations)

PARK: In front of the VAB

Expect about 40 miles at about 15-16 MPH on the flats. 

As always: helmets are mandatory, mirrors are recommended.

Sunday – August 14^th:

MEET: Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail (Leaving from Boulware Springs)

                (directions below)

TIME: Meet at 8:00 am, depart by 8:10 am.

PLAN: We will ride the Trail to the Hawthorne end & back

We will stop at a convenience store (going or coming back) if needed.

PARK: In any lot you wish.  We will depart from the dirt lot nearest NE 15^th St.

Expect 31 miles at about 15 MPH on the flats.

To get to the Boulware Springs dirt lot:

From the intersection of Waldo Road (24/331) and University Ave (26), proceed East on University for about a quarter mile, the road forks, take the right fork, which is Hawthorne Rd. (20), in about another block take a right (going south) on SE 15th st., continue south for about 2.25 miles until you see the brown Gainesville Hawthorne Trail sign on your right. Pass the first entrance to the park, but enter the second entrance a few hundred feet further south.
