• WHAT: Explore (mountain bike or hike) the proposed Millhopper Greenway, which will be open to us by county permission during this event.
  • WHEN: Sun Jan 25 at 1:00 P.M.
  • WHERE: Meet at the home of Lee and Tony Ross (see directions below)
  • DISTANCE: 5 miles roundtrip
  • BIKE DETAILS: Suitable for mountain bikes (helmets required) because part of the surface is unpaved. Plan on about an hour of exploration.
  • HIKE DETAILS: Be prepared to walk 5 miles. Plan on about 2 hours of exploration.
The proposed greenway is on a county right-of-way, between Millhopper Road (at 88th St) and 39th Ave (at 83rd St), which may be developed as a road. This right-of-way is beautiful, and the gate is typically closed, so take advantage of this opportunity to see it. We believe that when you see it, you may want to see it preserved as a linear park with recreation and transportation options for non-motorized use.

Hope you can join us. Lee (and Tony) Ross

Directions to Ross home at 9705 NW 63rd Lane
  1. From the Chevron at 43rd St and Millhopper, go west on Millhopper about 4 miles, and then turn RIGHT into THE HAMMOCK (NW 97th ST). Or, if you are coming from Hwy 241/143rd St, go east on Millhopper about 3.5 miles and turn LEFT into THE HAMMOCK (NW 97th St). THE HAMMOCK is on both sides of Millhopper Rd. Be sure to turn into the neighborhood on the NORTH side of Millhopper Rd. Do not be fooled by neighborhoods with similar names, such as Mill Hammock.
  2. At the stop sign, turn left, turn immediately right, and then turn right again. In the cul-de-sac, we are on the right, with 9705 on the mailbox.
P.S. If you ride a road bike and want to bike to our house, you can leave the road bike locked in our garage while you hike.
