To all HighBees,

The weather is still an issue regarding tomorrow’s ride. If we do ride I think we should move the ride up to meeting at 9:00am and riding at 9:15am to try to avoid the rain that is most likely going to come a little later. The question is whether the rain will come during the ride; and this not being a summer ride where a little rain is no big deal, and even refreshing, it is something to consider during the winter months. On weather.com right now it looks like the likelihood of rain is more like 11:00am, but that would mean it would rain before we finished the ride.

Let’s do this. Let’s plan on the earlier time mentioned above and I will check the weather again early in the morning and send out an e-mail to everyone no later than 8:00am as to whether we proceed or not.

If we don’t ride, what is this our third week in a row. I think that might be a HighBee record.

If anyone has any thoughts on the subject feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

Mike

Subject: HighBee Ride/ Saturday, January 16th

To all HighBees and those that would like to ride with us:

There is good news and some bad news. Looks like we are getting a break from the cold weather (the good news), but the forecast is for 80% chance of rain on Saturday (the bad news). I am posting the ride in spite of that and hoping for the best. I will continue to check the forecast and send out an update on the ride later in the week. Everyone keep thinking, “No Rain!!”

Day: Saturday, January 16th

Time: 9:45 am meeting, 10:00 am departure

Meeting Place: Chevron Station, on the corner of NW 43rd St and NW 53rd Ave.

Route and Mileage: We will ride the short version (35 miles) of the Monteocha Rides; going out to Hague, to Monteocha, to Lacrosse (rest stop), then Hague and back to the beginning point. Note: This week’s ride is a little shorter since we haven’t ridden in a couple of weeks or so due to the cold weather.

Speed: HighBee rides are typically16-17 MPH average. This is a no drop ride; we re-group at all turns.

If you are new to GCC and are looking for a weekly ride with a moderate (16-17 MPH Ave.) and moderate distance (Usually 40-45 miles), please feel free to join us.

Membership Requirements: Please note that HighBee rides are open to all GCC members who wish to participate. Those that are non-members may ride with the group as a guest of a sponsoring member once without being required to be a member.

On a separate note, it has been suggested by Roger Peirce that the HighBees all sign up as HighBees on the website, so that we can communicate through the website as opposed to using GCC Mail going to the whole club. That is all fine and dandy, but it will get the message to those that are not registered as HighBees, but would like to join one of our rides. If you are a HighBee or think you might at least try a HighBee ride or ride with us occasionally you can register as an occasional rider.
