Hi, to the 9 sunrise riders from today. What
heckuva ride...we averaged 20.1 mph to the pit stop at CR 340 and US 27 =
29.3 miles. Then in the second part of 30.3 miles we actually averaged 20.8
mph and did the whole 59.6 miles at 20.5 mph. That is cool cuz in the
second half, we had to battle up both Underwood Hill, Krishna Hill, and bit
of a south breeze coming home...and we did it with the remaining 5
guys. It was nice to sit in and just get sucked along at 22-23
mph. Lots of great scenery and some good competition. What nice
prep this was for R2R on Sat 16 May. Thanks, guys. BTW: JJ...when you read this...as far as I'm concerned...if we go back to the shorter 38 mile loop, either Sat or Sund, that would be fine. As are some other Sunrise riders who are doing R2R, I'll be tapering down mileage and maintaining the quality = speed...so the 38 mile loop with the usual hill sprints and final sprint would be good with me...maybe keep the speed up near that 20.5-21 mph average again. Sorry you missed a great ride...but on the other hand I hope you got the job. Bob Howland |
