Hipp rides begin tomorrow (Tuesday) ROLLING OUT AT 6PM sharp from the Hippodrome State Theater downtown.  We'll be doing the shortest route (roughly 30 miles depending on where you live) for the first couple weeks until we gain more daylight to go further.

If you're unfamiliar with the Hipp ride, it's Gainesville's fastest ride and is mostly attended by racer types.  The format is unlike most group rides in other towns in that the strongest riders will usually rotate at the front while everyone else will sit behind them in the draft.  Attacking the rotating riders is discouraged--unless you have been rotating yourself for the last 5-10 minutes prior to your attack.  There are a few sprint points in the ride which is customarily contested only the riders who were rotating.  Sitting in the draft and sprinting around the riders who pulled you along for the last 15 minutes is discouraged.  If you are very strong but not familiar with rotating in a group, please sit behind the rotation for at least a couple rides until you get a feel for how it works.

Official Hipp ride time can be found here.  Synchronize your watches.

This is not a Team Florida ride nor a GCC ride.  Helmets are strongly recommeded as crashes sometime happen and the rest of the group does not want to deal with scraping your brains off the pavement.  Also, you are on your own if you have a mechanical or get dropped.  The Hipp ride generally does not wait for anyone.  Please be cognizant that there are cars on the road and making them angry at us does not help anyone.
