What better way to watch the upcoming Harry Potter movie than on an IMAX screen? What better to combine it with than a bike ride? Tony and I hope you can join us in the St Augustine area on Saturday Nov 20 for one or both of the following:
  • Bike ride: Meet at Riverdale Park at 9:15 AM for an estimated 43-mile bike ride, using the western portion of the Endless Summer Watermelon Ride route. This route is along the St. John's River with scenic views, with a loop back through farmland. Roads are two-lane (low-traffic, no bike lane). TweenBees are 15 mph, with some faster riders. (Other group leaders are also welcome to participate.)
  • Movie: 4:00 PM Harry Potter movie at IMAX Theater at World of Golf Hall of Fame. Because it's opening weekend, advance ticket purchase (http://www.worldgolfimax.com/) is recommended, because it may sell out.
Join us for the ride, the movie, or both. Options and directions:
  • Ride route: To see the ride routes, go to http://www.staugustinecyclingfestival.com/eswr, move to the bottom, and click the map buttons. This route combines the western part of the 104 Mile Map with a loop back through the farmland shown on the 68 Mile Map. The plan is to do about 43 miles, beginning at Riverdale Park (the cross symbol that appears below mile marker 31 on the maps).
  • Ride options: Faster riders can consider an extension, for about 52 miles. If weather is really cold, the group can choose a 30-mile route, and meet at 10:15 AM instead of 9:15 AM.
  • Schedule: This schedule should allow plenty of time for the drive from Riverdale Park to the IMAX theater, a chance to get lunch, mingle with Potter fans, and get in line for a good seat.
  • Directions: To estimate your driving time, use a program like MapQuest.com. Riverdale Park address: 980 CR-13 S St Augustine, near the intersection of CR-13 S and Riverdale Road. IMAX Theater address: One World Golf Place, St Augustine.
Questions? If you can't send an owl, feel free to e-mail or call Tony at (352) 281-8781.
