Hi, Cliff,

Since there is a training century on the SFC course on Sat 26 Aug...could you be a bit more specific about where that construction is located?   That way those of us riding can plan for an alternate route or bring a brush to get the mud off our cleats.
It sounds like it is 10 miles or so south of the US 41 50 mile rest stop?  But, where exactly do you mean?

Thanks, Bob Howland

Hi,

I rode the Santa Fe Century route on August 5 without a map since I have ridden it many times and always depended on the green arrows.  However, some of the roads have been repaved and a few of the green arrows were gone.  If you ride the route you may want to print a map from the GCC web site to carry and pay attention or you will ride extra miles, like I did.

Along the route there is a major road repair project where there is an excavation probably 25 feet wide and about 20 feet deep.  It is probably at about mile 60 or so.  I had to carry my bike down and up the construction area across the mud and water. Without a map I was not sure which way to go other than follow the route.  Again, take a map.  Best part was that mud hardened my cleats to my pedals and I could not unclip in Worthington Springs, much to the enjoyment of the locals who watched me fall at the stop sign.

I assume the repair work will be finished before the 2006 Santa Fe Century ride.
