Weather update (Posted Frida July 8, 2011 by Michael Steinberg)

The forecast for rain tomorrow morning is looking questionable; so just a heads up. If it is raining or it is obvious that it is going to be raining at or soon after the time we are planning to meet for the ride, I will send out an e-mail by 7:00am at the latest cancelling the ride. As Mike Let’s keep our fingers crossed that we’ll get rid of all the rain today.

Mike

 This week’s ride info:

Day: Saturday, July 9th

Time: 7:30 am meeting, 7:45 am departure (NOTE: This is a BEAT THE HEAT time schedule for this ride. Let’s try it and see how it goes)

Meeting Place: Kangaroo, on the corner of SW 34th St and Williston Road.

Route and Mileage: We’ll ride a modified version of the Lowell Ride (without going to Lowell) Same ride down 441 to Micanopy, then east on CR 346 to 225 down through Evinston and Boardman, popping out on 441 again to Dungarvin Rd, then east to 88th Ave, then south to CR 318, west to Flemington and we’ll stop at the park. Then go north on CR 329, becoming 234 and into Micanopy; turning west on Wacahoota Rd, back to Williston Rd and east to POB. Total distance is 46 miles according to MapMyRide.com.

Pace: The HighBees ride pace is about 17-18 MPH. This is a friendly, no drop ride; we soft pedal and/or re-group at all turns when needed.

Note: Let’s work on maintaining group integrity on the ride, keeping the group together when gaps occur and maintain a civil cruising pace and avoid turning the ride into a Hammerfest. Those who with to sprint, please confine it to CR 318 on the way to the rest stop in Flemington and the last few miles on Williston Rd, near the end of the ride. Please notify the group of your plan to sprint ahead in the designated locations so the pace of the rest of the group isn’t picked up trying to hang on to the new pace being set.
