Wednesday Evening--Advanced Developers Ride (Bike Works Parking Lot, Tioga Town Center: David Bello, Ride Leader)

Date: 11/02/2011
Meeting Time 5:00pm
Pre-Ride Briefing 5:15pm
Departure Time 5:20pm
Where: Bike Works of Jonesville in Tioga Town Center

PLEASE NOTE THE RIDE TIME SCHEDULE ABOVE!

***DUE TO THE DAYS GETTING EVER SHORTER AND THE TIME CHANGE HAPPENING SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH 2011, THIS IS THE LAST RIDE I WILL BE HAVING AS WE KNOW IT FROM BIKE WORKS OF JONESVILLE. I HOPE TO SEE AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE OUT THERE FOR ONE LAST HOORAH!!!***
5:00 p.m. meet, 5:20 p.m. leave, for a ride that may last until dark--about 20 miles (leave time will change during winter).  Pace will reach 20-21 mph average speed. THIS IS A NO DROP RIDE ONLY FOR PUNCTURES/FLATS, MECHANICAL FAILURES AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS, but we will NOT be waiting for riders who cannot maintain the ride pace.  This is a performance-oriented fitness/training ride that may include rotating pace-lines, team time trials, intervals, and sprint lead-outs--after which we will regroup at the pre-ride briefing's pre-determined points for a steady ride. Junior (under age 17) riders are encouraged if they will have a guardian that is familiar with the route and can help bring them back to the bike shop to check in before heading home, should they be unable to maintain the pace. Parents of juniors should speak with the Ride Captain to indicate who will be their guardian on the ride. Drop-bar road bikes only except by Captain’s approval.

Expect a total ride time of approximately 1 hour from the departure time.

NOTE: Since we are shortening the route itself, that does not mean that I want to ease up on the intensity. This week, we will head up CR241 in Jonesville and WARM UP. Once we reach 36th avenue and turn left, we can and will ride a higher than usual tempo pace of 22-23mph. We will keep pulls to about 2 minutes or less, depending on who shows up. We will maintain the tempo all the way to CR 235, then on to Newberry Road as we head back in. Once we cross CR241 South on Newberry road, the last man back to the bike shop is a rotten egg. And yes, someone will be branded as such until next week when we do it again :)

Route Description: We will head west on Newberry Road to CR241 North. We will then turn right onto 36th Avenue, across from the soccer fields. Once we reach CR235 we turn south and ride on to Newberry road. Turn left (East) on Newberry road and then it's Newberry Road all the way back to Tioga.
By showing up to the ride, you agree to abide by all of the rules concerning pace, regrouping, and “no drop.”  If you need to ride in ahead of a flat or pull off for some reason, let the Ride Captain know. All riders are strongly encouraged to have a rear red blinky light and a front headlamp as this ride may be ending near dusk/dark. And of course, ALL are required to wear a helmet at all times.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this ride.
